Lindsay offers schools and libraries several presentations to engage children ages four to eight years old, as well as older students on up to fifth grade about the craft of writing.
Meta Is Betta!
OK, maybe not better, but a lot of fun! Lindsay will chat about breaking the fourth wall and the unusual perspective of This Book Is Spineless, how it works in this story, and how to tell your own stories in this unique way. She will craft a meta story with the children on the fly!
Fear: It’s Just One of Our Emotions
In This Book Is Spineless, the book is super scared of what is on its pages. Can it manage to get through the story? Lindsay will talk about the path of working through fears, and how the arc of a story is very similar to the arc of emotions felt when experiencing fear and anxiety. She will help the class draw roller coasters to mimic this experience.
Inspiration Is Everywhere
Lindsay’s second picture book, Nova the Star Eater, was born from a conversation she had with her oldest son about Pokemon. Like clouds, ideas float all around ready to be grabbed and developed. She’ll talk about where she gets ideas, how to determine which idea is worth pursuing, and how to go from idea to final product.
Lindsay is always open to brainstorming a tailor-made presentation and is available to talk about her path to publication, the craft of writing, or how to use social media to make connections in the publishing world.
Lindsay can conduct Skype or Google Hangout visits and present a shorter version of one of the above topics along with a Q&A. Her in-person presentations run 30 to 45 minutes with time for Q&A.
Please contact Lindsay for availability and rates. She’ll get back to you lightning fast.
