We are nearing a surreal launch day for DUSK EXPLORERS (illustrated by Ellen Rooney/published by Page Street Kids), a picture book about those summertime evenings when you’ve just finished dinner and race out the front door to meet up with all of your neighborhood friends. It’s about playing all the games, sharing all the secrets, and catching all the toads and fireflies before you hear, “TIME TO COME HOME!”
I’ve been chatting with my childhood dusk explorer buddy, my sister Kiersty, about this book and how it just might be the perfect book for this time. We are all reconnecting with the outdoors because that’s where we can go to find comfort, keep our distance, satisfy our curiosities, and blow off some major steam. For the parents out there, I hope this book brings back vivid memories of being dusk explorers. For all the kiddos out there, I hope this book entices you to head out the door after dinner and make some memories.
